Certification as a Specialist

The Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization certifies attorneys as specialists in fourteen areas of the law:  Business Bankruptcy, Civil Pre-Trial, Civil Trial, Consumer Bankruptcy, Creditor Rights, Criminal Trial, DUI Defense, Elder Law, Estate Planning, Family Law, Juvenile Law - Child Welfare, Legal Malpractice, Medical Malpractice and Social Security Disability.  The Mississippi Bar does not have a procedure for approving certifying or designating organizations and authorities. Recognition of specialization in patent matters is a matter of law and established policy of the Patent and Trademark Office, as reflected by The Mississippi Bar.  The Mississippi Bar further recognizes the designation o admiralty practice associated with maritime commerce and the federal courts.  Listing of related or included practice areas herein does not constitute or imply a representation of certification of specialization.  Certification as an employee benefits specialist or as a health care regulatory specialist is not currently available in either Tennessee or Mississippi.
